The Peugeot 205 Rallye was created around a remarkably simple philosophy: remove what wasn't necessary and concentrate on what made the car exciting to drive.

At its heart is Peugeot's naturally aspirated 1,294 cc TU24 inline-four. Fed by twin Weber 40 DCOM carburetors, the engine produced approximately 103 PS at 6,800 rpm in factory specification and was paired with a short-ratio 5-speed manual transmission.

With an original curb weight of approximately 790 kg, outright horsepower tells only part of the story. Low weight, compact dimensions, short gearing and immediate mechanical feedback gave the Rallye the character that made it one of the most celebrated lightweight European performance cars of its era.

This example has been restored and prepared with a distinctly competition-focused character. Its white bodywork wears a period-inspired rally livery with Shell, Michelin and motorsport graphics, complemented by white rally wheels and auxiliary lamps.

Inside, the minimalist philosophy continues with a full roll cage, racing bucket seats, multi-point harnesses and a stripped-back competition environment. The engine bay features additional IRESA hardware, including its distinctive exhaust manifold.

The result is a car that captures the spirit of period European rallying while remaining fundamentally about one thing: driving.

A lightweight homologation special created with competition in mind, the 1988 Peugeot 205 Rallye represents one of the purest expressions of Peugeot’s legendary 205 platform.

Developed to compete in Group A and Group N rallying, the Rallye paired an exceptionally lightweight three-door body with Peugeot’s high-revving 1.3-liter TU24 four-cylinder engine, twin Weber carburetors, a close-ratio 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

This restored example takes that competition heritage a step further. Finished in white with a period-inspired rally livery, it features a stripped competition-style interior, full roll cage, racing bucket seats, multi-point harnesses, auxiliary lighting, white rally wheels and IRESA hardware.
